Dean Nels Olson was born in Sidney, Nebraska on Oct 13, 1939, to Carl L. Olson and Ruth M. Olson. He spent his younger school years in Sidney and went on to complete his high school years at Kemper Military School, in Booneville, MS. He graduated in 1957 and sought a higher education at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO.
