Kent graduated from Kemper Military School in Missouri in 1949, and served proudly in the US Air Force as a 1st Lt. from 1954 to 1962. He met the love of his life, Joan, at a church picnic. He proposed marriage five days later! They enjoyed their military life at the Niagara Falls Air Base during their early years together.
