Pathfinder Eta – Thom Thatch Johnson
Hello Old Boys, I am Thom. I attended Kemper from 95-99. Just like every other Old Boy, I have an enormous number of lifelong memories from our beloved school. Too many to put into words. I enjoy returning to Boonville from time to time to visit what I revere as sacred grounds. I have had many wonderful opportunities in my life, and I genuinely believe that my upbringing on the limestone bluffs of the murky Missouri River, gave me the constitution to meet the challenges of those opportunities. But it was not this plot of land along the Missouri countryside that was the influential factor, it was the people. It was a set of ideologies and philosophies that were passed down for generations. ”It was a place not just to make mere Scholars, but to make Men”. It was the Old Boys. It was You!
I am excited to be a part of the Kemper Old Boy Network. I am truly humbled to have been approached about being a pathfinder. I believe in the mission statement. We are the last of what remains of a world that no longer exists. But we do! And we should continue to support each other while we are here. And God willing, let us figure out a way to pass something on to future generations that promote our shared philosophies and ideologies.
Honor is something that you cannot obtain yourself, it must be bestowed upon you by others. The only way to obtain Honor is to do good works and positively influence the world. And if done correctly, people of the world may view you with Honor.
I AM a Kemper Old Boy!
