According to Maj. Ed Rouse, who was serving as the intelligence officer at Camp Hovey, South Korea at the time, White was an all-American, filled with patriotism and fascinated by the U.S. military. As a soldier, however, he was constantly in trouble, even going AWOL from Kemper Military College.
Mr. Hartenbach was born March 30, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Gertrude (Muckerman) and Marion Hartenbach. He went to Western Military Academy and Ladue High School, and attended college at Kemper Military Academy.
Bill was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Cyrus Julian and Esther E. Lytle. Bill attended public schools in Little Rock, Arkansas and high school in Kemper Military School in Booneville, Missouri. Bill attended The University of Arkansas and graduated with a degree in Business in 1958. He received his commission as a Quartermaster 2nd Lieutenant in 1957.
Dennis Robert Bergeman, age 75, of Port Clinton, passed away after a brief illness, on Friday, Feb. 17, at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. He was born on Aug. 12, 1947, in Fremont, to Denver and Dorothy (Sours) Bergeman.
Denny graduated from Port Clinton High School and later attended and played football at Kemper Military School and Culver-Stockton College. He earned his master’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University. Denny would go on to teach and coach at various schools including Fremont St. Joe, the University of Cincinnati, and Norwalk City Schools, from which he would retire.
It is appropriate to use a football analogy to honor Denny, a long-time friend. He was an all-conference football player at Port Clinton, combining with Bob Nichols for one of the greatest linebacker tandems of all time.
Denny played football for Kemper Military Academy and then Culver Stockton College in Missouri. He was an assistant coach for the legendary Bob Smith at Fremont St. Joe and went on to serve as defensive coordinator for Norwalk’s State Championship team.
Paul was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Aug. 27, 1922 to Pauline and Wolff Rothband. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1939 in Kansas City, then attended Kemper Military School in Booneville, Missouri for two years, completing an Associate of Arts Degree in 1941. While attending Kemper, he was honored as a member of the Junior College Junior Class, a member of the Scholastic Honor Society, a member of the Varsity Track Team and Lettered in Company Tennis.
