The Boonville City Council approved a development agreement for senior housing at the former Kemper Military School during its meeting on Monday, August 21.
City Administrator Kate Fjell stated the housing would be for age 55 and older and the council was excited about the proposed development.
Charlie coached and eventually became the Athletic Director at Kemper Military School and College. He then became the principal of Blackwater Elementary, then moved to principal at Glasgow Elementary from 1977-1996 where he retired from education and went to work alongside his wife Barbara. He partook in many community events and activities throughout the years from coaching, refereeing, being with family and friends. If you knew anything about Charlie he loved his family and loved his Kansas Jayhawks.
Joseph attended school in Fremont, IA, Abilene, TX, Kemper Military School in Booneville, MO, and finally in Oskaloosa, IA.
He worked for Blunk Construction and Blunk Enterprises during his career.
Joseph served in the United States Navy.
The Boonville City Council approved a lease agreement with the Boonslick Heartland YMCA for continued use of Johnston Field House at the former Kemper Military School during its meeting on Monday, August 7.
A native of Lubbock, Texas and proud resident of the North Shore area for over 35 years, Dick attended Kemper Military School, graduated from Lubbock High School and then Texas Tech University in 1969. He proudly served the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Dick was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1971.
He attended Park Cities schools, Kemper Military Academy and graduated from Highland Park high school in 1947. He attended Texas Tech University and The University of North Texas and served in the Naval Reserves. After spending time working on the family dairy and cattle farm, Charlie began a career as an independent insurance agent specializing in property and casualty insurance.
William Morris Hoge was born in Boonville, Mo., in January 1894 on the campus of the Kemper Military School, where his father served as principal. He was appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1912, graduated in 1916 and was commissioned into the Army Corps of Engineers.
During World War I, Hoge was assigned to the 7th Engineer Regiment and deployed to France. In late 1918, as a battalion commander during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, he led troops in a 20-hour battle while working to bridge the Meuse River. He returned to the U.S. in 1919 and pursued education, training and civil works assignments, receiving a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1922.
Lt. Col. William ‘Bill’ L. Lytle July 19, 1935 – February 21, 2023 Lt. Col. William ‘Bill’ L. Lytle, (USA, retired), 87, of Huntsville passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Bill was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Cyrus Julian and Esther E. Lytle. Bill attended public schools in Little Rock, Arkansas and high school in Kemper Military School in Booneville, Missouri. Bill attended The University of Arkansas and graduated with a degree in Business in 1958. He received his commission as a Quartermaster 2nd Lieutenant in 1957.
“Jimmy” grew up in the Tyler community, attending Gary Elementary, Hogg Junior High School, Tyler High, and graduating from Kemper Military School in Booneville, Missouri. At the University of Texas at Austin he became a superfan of the football team and the overall college experience. Although he graduated in 1960, his love for the Longhorns never left him, and he continued to watch every game that he could wearing his longhorn jacket and cheering on the team with his friends.
The Boonville City Council accepted bills accepting Greenside Drive into the City of Boonville and the transfer of ownership of Barracks A and D to the Boonville Community Development Corporation during a recent meeting.
Greenside Drive, which was built by a developer will be accepted into the Fox Hollow Subdivision and the city will be taking it over for maintenance purposes. Barracks A and D at the former Kemper Military School will be transferred to the Boonville Community Development Corporation to secure grant funding to clear asbestos. The city is not eligible for the grant program though the corporation is eligible because it is a non-profit.
