Dwight Lewis, son W.P. and Gladys (Hauge) Tyrrell, was born Nov. 19, 1926 on the family farm near Belmond. Dwight grew up and attended school in Belmond. He attended two years at Kemper Military School in Missouri where he received his high school diploma. Dwight served in the United States Army during WWII in Germany.
