Kent graduated from Kemper Military School in Missouri in 1949, and served proudly in the US Air Force as a 1st Lt. from 1954 to 1962. He met the love of his life, Joan, at a church picnic. He proposed marriage five days later! They enjoyed their military life at the Niagara Falls Air Base during their early years together.
The Boonville City Council approved a development agreement for senior housing at the former Kemper Military School during its meeting on Monday, August 21.
City Administrator Kate Fjell stated the housing would be for age 55 and older and the council was excited about the proposed development.
Boonville is a prime strategic location, and it was not just tourists who recognized the town’s geographic value. Because of Boonville’s railroad and approximation to the Missouri River, and being almost halfway between Kansas City and St. Louis, the Confederate and Union armies fought for the town during the American Civil War. This intersection of the cardinal directions has been the site of two Civil War battles and two occupations
Rogers attended several schools during his childhood, including Kemper Military School in Boonville, Mo., from 1897-98. He dropped out in the 10th grade to become a cowboy. In 1902 and 1903, Will traveled in South Africa with “Texas Jack’s Wild West Show,” in which he played “The Cherokee Kid” and did roping tricks. He also traveled in Australia and New Zealand with the Wirth Brothers Circus.
Christopher Stephen Tate, age 54, passed away at his home in Bridgeport, Alabama on November 9, 2023. Chris was a 1988 graduate of Franklin County High School. He graduated from Kemper Military Academy in 1990.
Frank was born in Bridgeport, CT on February 27, 1948 and was the son of the late Frank V. Kelkis, Sr. and Veronica (Adams) Kelkis. He graduated from Dallastown Area High School, Class of 1965, and earned an associates degree from Kemper Military School, Boonville, MO and a B.S. in Business Management from York College of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Key attended Kemper Military School, North Texas State University and joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He served in Vietnam from March 1967 to March 1968 and later in Germany until October 1969. He remained in the Army Reserves while attending Law School and went back to Active Duty in JAG corps as a Captain, and later was promoted to Lt. Colonel. He Served in JAG corps in Germany, Washington DC, Fort Drum, Fort Devens, and retired to Pepperell MA in August 1993 after 28 years of Military service.
Jay graduated from Kemper Military School. At the age of 19, he and three of his closest friends joined the army. He served his country honorably for 12 years, which included multiple tours of duty in Vietnam. His titles consisted of Paratrooper, Jump Master, Staff Sergeant, Medic, Special Forces Green Beret, and Reservist.
